St John have been awarded 'NZ's most trusted charity and are recognised for our Employer brand in the market.This is a fixed term full time position (maternity cover) for 12 months reporting to the Accounting Services Manager.The Accountant is responsible for performing tasks that support the delivery of key outcomes that support the accurate and timely delivery of all St John's financial, consolidated and statutory accounts.You will work with other team members, including the Senior Accountants, to help ensure the needs of internal and external stakeholders are effectively met; this includes providing information to managers of operating entities, collaborating to support the work of Finance Business Partners, the Planning and Analysis team and other Finance Services Transactional teams. This will enable the Financial Controller, through the Accounting Services Manager and the work of the team, to maintain an effective control and accounting environment.Key accountabilities include:Ensure all assigned General Ledger entries including journal entries are processedWork with the Accounting Services Manager and Senior AccountantsAssist in the analysis and support consideration of monthly business results and their potential risksHelp to ensure that month and end of year processes are complete efficient and financial accounting closure is deliveredAssist with the reconciliation of designated balance sheet accountsAssist with requests from internal auditors to test control procedures that support the achievement of compliance requirements that help St John's external auditTo be successful in this role you will enjoy being challenged on a daily basis and working within a team of skilled finance professionals.
