As a Learning Delivery team, we contribute by facilitating and delivering open distance flexible learning.We are looking for someone to join our team.Academic Staff Member - Engineering (Full time or Part time)We are looking for an Academic Staff Member to join us and add value to the Learning Delivery directorate providing leadership and teaching in our engineering suite of programmes.This position is an academic delivery role, where you will be teaching students on our online platform in a range of subject areas, predominately in the fire engineering discipline. You will have strong skills and experience in some or all of the areas listed below.This position can be based anywhere in NZ (Working from Home) or based at our Campus in Lower Hutt.You will be responsible for:Teaching courses in the Open Distance Flexible Learning (ODFL) modality utilising interactive technology and best practice professional standards for online distance learningProviding feedback on course materials and assessments as requiredUsing innovative technology and appropriate interactive teaching strategies to facilitate student learningProviding students with targeted and specific support that develops their knowledge and understanding of subject matterWorking collaboratively within a team environment, which includes our contracted marking workforce, student mentors and other teaching staffProviding feedback to Programme Delivery Managers on course and programme delivery mattersNga pukenga mo te tunga | What you will bring to the roleYou will have a passion for impacting the lives of everyday people and seeing them achieve their educational goals and dreams. You will also constantly be striving to be the best you can be, just as our students do and you pride yourself on the quality of your work.Ideally you will have;A Master's or PhD qualification in Fire or Mechanical (Building Services) EngineeringExperience with the regulatory framework, compliance, safety, and performance for buildings in New Zealand, particularly pertaining to fire engineeringExperience with the application of relevant Standards, Guides and Codes of PracticeFamiliarity with current building design principles and practices pertaining to building and occupant fire protection, both passive and activeFamiliarity with the processes for demonstrating compliance with the Building Code, acceptable solutions, alternative solutions design, and solution verification methodsCandidates with a Master's or PhD in mechanical engineering with building services knowledge / experience may also be consideredExperience working with Maori and Pasifika learnersPrevious employment as an engineerHigh level of skill using computers and applicationsExcellent organisational and communication skillsA high level of judgement, flexibility, self-motivation and responsivenessPassion for education and researchMo matou | About usThe Kuratini Tuwhera is Aotearoa New Zealand's leading distance and online learning provider with an enviable reputation in the vocational sector.
