Puke Ariki Museum is Taranaki's regional multidisciplinary museum, and a storehouse for Maori taonga, and the place where the natural and lived environment of Taranaki, its heritage and stories, are shared.
Te aheinga - The opportunity The Museum, Puke Ariki Libraries and the Govett-Brewster Art Gallery-Len Lye Centre have recently aligned to deliver great Cultural Experiences, and we are seeking to appoint an energetic and experienced new Museum Manager to deliver on this potential.
As Manager this is your opportunity to contribute to the growth of revenue and in-kind support for museum operations. As a people leader you will empower a cohesive team culture, motivate and develop staff, and deepen relationships with communities, particularly Taranaki iwi, hapu and whanai.
Exciting elements of this role are to help shape the Cultural Experiences team's direction, cement the Museum's leadership in research, programming and community engagement, and grow the understanding of matauranga Maori and tikanga while respecting all cultures, and promoting lifelong learning.
You will come with a compelling vision for a contemporary museum and impactful cultural institution offering engaging exhibitions, public programs and services for diverse audiences and stakeholders, and prioritising mana whenua. Bringing demonstrable museum experience in leading passionate teams, you will ensure best practice collection and archive care, conservation and access.
