Summary
We have an exciting opportunity for someone who is passionate about andcommitted to working with youth and are looking for a youth worker to joinour Real service in Masterton.

Youwill be working 40 hours per week, Monday to Friday 8.30am to 5.00pm based in Masterton,and working across the whole of the Wairarapa.

As a youthworker, you'll apply your skills, creative ideas and expertise to workcollaboratively with partner agencies to get the best outcome for our youth andtheir families/whanau.

You willsupport young people to develop life skills and resilience and provide supportwith practical problem solving and daily life skills. You will be supportingcommunity connection and liaising with relevant support services,family/whanau and other providers to provide “whatever it takes andkeeping it REAL” for the young people we support in order to grow and identifytheir purpose and belonging in our community so they have the opportunity tothrive.

The Team
You’ll be reporting to the TeamCoach, and will be the only Youth Worker (non clinical) working within aclinical team. The role is predominantly focused on AOD/co-existingAOD/mental health problems. Support is provided in schools, in thecommunity, and from our office base.

You
It isessential that you will have previous experience working with youth, and youmay even have experience working within AOD. You’ll definitely have an understanding of trauma-informed care.
This role will involve supporting young people with primary mental healthissues and complex social needs. Wewould expect the successful applicant to have knowledge of and relationshipswith local NGO and Iwi providers and advanced skills in working collaborativelywith other providers to address complex needs.

You will have:
Acurrent full New Zealand driver’s license
Acurrent first aid certificate, or be willing to get one
Holdthe New Zealand Certificate in Health and Wellbeing (NZCHW) or a recognisedequivalent or be currently studying towards this qualification or a recognisedequivalent.
Anunderstanding of trauma-informed care and experience in support work,preferably with young people.
Impeccableattention to detail and be able to provide medication support
You will be:

Afresh thinker, using curiosity and imagination to generate new ideas
Inspiringothers with enthusiasm and a take action approach
Passionateabout supporting young people to build confidence, resilience and wellbeing
