Service Technician – Tararua & Mahinerangi Wind Farms.

Vestas is seeking experienced Service Technicians (Electrical) to work on wind turbines and carry out maintenance. One position is to be based at the Tararua wind farm near Palmerston North, with the other being based at the Mahinerangi wind farm near Dunedin.

This role will report to the Site Supervisor and will play a pivotal role in maintaining, testing and repairing electrical equipment, assisting the mechanical technicians, completing servicing and monitoring daily performance to ensure continued high availability to customers.

Responsibilities:
• Perform the day to day servicing, calibrations and maintenance as a part of scheduled and un-scheduled service and maintenance of wind turbines
• Installation, commissioning, inspection and maintenance of wind turbine generators and associated spare parts
• Identify, define and isolate source of issues through logical processes and identify and evaluate possible solutions for the same
• Ensure customer satisfaction through direct liaison with client representatives, customers and service recipients
• Develop and maintain site-specific documentation and quality assurance information
• Achieve, measure and report on performance indicators and site service objectives within a continuous improvement environment
• Carry out hazard and risk assessments for all tasks as per company policy and procedures
• Proactive focus on HSE including reporting and documenting of hazardous observations near misses and incidents

Qualifications:
• NZ Electrical trade qualification
• Experience working in an electrical trade environment, preferably working with WTGs but not essential
• Working at Heights,
• Rigging/ Dogman preferred
• EWP preferred
Competencies
• Demonstrated commitment and adherence to safety and environmental requirements
• Ability to work at heights
• Fit, with the ability to carry weight and climb wind turbine towers
• Flexibility in operation and ability to work in a team and as an independent contributor
• Self-managed, with good communication skills and strong work ethics
• Experience with SAP, Microsoft packages
