The Wellbeing and Safety Manager is responsible for leading and embedding a proactive culture of health, safety, and wellbeing across the organisation.
The role ensures compliance with relevant legislation, manages risk, and supports a safe and healthy environment for all employees, students, contractors, and visitors.
This position also plays a key role in strategic planning, policy development, and continuous improvement of wellbeing and safety systems, while also providing senior-level advice and guidance on wellbeing and safety matters.The appointing salary for this role will be negotiable dependent on skills and experience.The Wellbeing and Safety Manager is based in EIT | Te Pukenga reporting to the Wellbeing and Safety Lead - Rohe 2 and will be responsible for:Leadership & Strategy: Champion a proactive health, safety, and wellbeing culture, develop strategic frameworks, and provide expert advice to leadership and stakeholders.Compliance & Risk Management: Ensure compliance with legislation, manage critical risks, oversee workplace hazards, and engage with regulatory agencies.Emergency & Incident Management: Lead emergency preparedness, investigate serious incidents, and support staff and students following critical events.Training & Continuous Improvement: Develop training programs, promote a learning culture, manage safety audits, and oversee wellbeing and safety systems for continuous improvement.To be successful in this role you will have:Qualifications & Experience: Relevant tertiary qualification in Health & Safety or Wellbeing, professional accreditation preferred, and a minimum of 2 years in a senior health and safety role.Leadership & Compliance: Proven experience in leading cultural change, embedding best practices, and strong knowledge of New Zealand health and safety legislation.Skills & Attributes: Strategic leadership, excellent communication, high-level analytical and problem-solving abilities, and strong project management skills.Cultural Competence: Commitment to Te Tiriti o Waitangi principles, understanding of vocational education sector reforms, and experience advocating for te reo, tikanga, and matauranga Maori.As an inclusive and supportive employer, we value diversity and want to encourage anyone interested to apply, regardless of whether you tick all the boxes or not.We know that people from underrepresented groups and women in particular don't apply for roles if they're not a 100% match, but we're not looking for perfection, we're looking for potential.We want to see the real you in your application, and welcome the real you on board if you come and work with us.
