Through integration and collaboration, we're building a health system underpinned by partnership, equity, sustainability, whanau-centred care, and excellence.About the RoleOur Ward staff are a team through and through, and this role plays an essential role in ensuring the successful provision of patient centred care by fostering a welcoming environment for patients right from the get-go.As a Ward Administration Officer, you will be carrying out a wide range of administrative and reception duties and providing essential support for other staff members within the team to keep the hospital functioning effectively, including but not limited to:Providing effective reception services – answering incoming calls, welcoming visitors to the ServiceManagement of patient records/information, both electronically and in hard copy, database maintenance, and ordering supplies.Supporting the wider service with administration tasksPlease note, our administration staff hours fall between 07:30am – 07:30pm across Monday to Sunday on a two-week rotational roster.
The ability to work weekend shifts is essential to be considered for this role.About the Team/Service/ LocationTe Whatu Ora - Southern has the largest geographical coverage of all the New Zealand regions, providing services to 350,000 people in diverse communities.

Additionally, you will be self-motivated with an ability to initiate and anticipate change along with flexibility in your thinking.The ideal candidate will have:Previous clerical administration experienceKnowledge of office systemsThe ability to prioritise and juggle tasksCompetency with te ao Maori, tikanga, and te reo Maori or a commitment to starting your journey and taking ownership of your learning and growthExperience in projects/initiatives which give effect to Te Tiriti principles and frameworks, and the application of Matauranga Maori and Kaupapa Maori approaches, particularly as they apply in healthcare settingsHealth New Zealand | Te Whatu Ora is 'the weaving of wellness'.
