We have an exciting opportunity for a VSO role based in Taranaki to deliver services and support to our volunteer stations.




Mo tenei turanga - about the role

The role of the Volunteer Support Officer (VSO) is a 30 hours per week permanent role, based in Port Taranaki to South Taranaki , that will ensure the capability and sustainability of our volunteer brigades. The primary focus of this role is to support all volunteer stations within the Taranaki district. You will:


* Support brigade training nights/events by coordinating resources and materials.
* Complete monthly volunteer station checks and work with the Chief Fire Officer/ Controller/OIC and Brigade on any remedial actions.
* Assist with new initiatives, equipment, and programmes, either regional or national, to support your volunteer brigades.
* Coordinate equipment maintenance, repair, and replacement.
* Attend incidents with supplies to support and assist where needed.

As this role supports our volunteer brigades, applicants will need to have flexibility and availability for some evening work and be on an on-call roster.

If you're passionate about the role volunteer brigades play in their communities, then this role will provide you with a unique opportunity to utilise your knowledge and skills to support them.




To be successful in this role, we'd expect you will:

* Hold relevant NZQA or TAPS or equivalent qualifications.
* Be current in annual BA revalidation, ERD and pump operation.
* Have a good level of Organisational knowledge.
* Understand how Brigades operate and have a good level of empathy for volunteerism.
* Have a high level of knowledge in the use of the volunteer dashboard and how to influence a positive outcome.
* Be proficient in using MS Office and other IT systems.
* Be able to work remotely as a single recourse as well as in a team.
* Hold a valid driver's license and must have a heavy vehicle license.




The salary range for this role is PFU-PSA $97,052 - $107,836 pro rata dependent on skills and experience relevant to the role.
