The RoleWhile our client, a Christchurch based business software company, build the next version of their business management software, they require a developer that can support and update their legacy product which was coded in Visual FoxPro. Yes, we know Microsoft stopped development for VFP in 2007, so we're not expecting your FoxPro skills to be really current, but hopefully you can get back up to speed quickly!The work you will be doing will offer variety, with legacy maintenance and support, along with converting data into their new application and assisting the development team for the new product. It is expected that in time you would move across to that team once existing users are migrated to the new platform.Key ResponsibilitiesUndertake development work to support and maintain the existing product and work as part of the team for the new product
Follow agreed process and work to achieve set time frames
Communicate with and support customers
Work closely with other team members, both inside and outside the organisation.
Required SkillsDegree qualified in software development, web development or computer science
Minimum of 3+ years’ experience in software development
Experience coding in Visual FoxProExperience working with databases (SQL/MySQL/PostgreSQL)
Coding experience with Java would be beneficial
Working knowledge of Linux, SSH, Security etc.
You must be a team player
Exceptional English communication skills.
