*Urgent* Play Therapy For Autistic Boy | Albany | Casual

This employer is looking for a Support Worker for their younger son who has autism. He has funding for personal care and support, so he has paid carers who come and play, interact and encourage him to talk. It is a very flexible position which suits students and pays pretty well.
He enjoys engaging with his carers and is a very affectionate little boy. Generally speaking, you are not, or are rarely, left in sole care, so this is not baby-sitting. This is play therapy. Either myself, or another adult, will always be present in the house to support you, and training will be given on the job. The carer roles would suit carers with: Excellent and clear communication skills (essential). He has delayed social and language communication and has difficulties with the English language so he needs carers with excellent verbal communication skills. A calm temperament and the ability to cope well in any situation. A reliable work ethic and commitment to the shifts you choose. Own transport, as there is no easy bus/public transport access to our house. (You will not need to transport Griffin anywhere, so the type of transport is immaterial. Location is Greenhithe/Albany area on the North Shore. Parking is available). Ideally, an interest in being outdoors. .
An interest in any of the following study areas would also be useful (but not required): Medicine, Nursing, Psychology, Behaviour Support, Occupational Therapy, Art, Music, Drama, Physiotherapy, Dance, Speech Language Therapy, Education, ABA Therapy, etc.
The advert says 4 hours per week - there is the option for many more if desired, but you must be available for a minimum of 4 hours. The shifts are published every week, and are usually 3-4 hours long but you can take on multiple shifts on the same day when available. We are flexible around your exam and study schedule. Please note: You would be employed as a self-employed contractor which means that your withholding tax is taken out but you are responsible for your own student loan/child support/ACC applicable taxes etc on the income you receive via invoice. Those on student visas will be ineligible to apply!
