Transition Coordinator - Team Lead

We are seeking someone to lead our tight-knit Pathways and Transitions Team at Manukau Institute of Technology (MIT). This team of 4 supports secondary students to gain either NCEA L2 or L3 in a tertiary environment and provides a high level of student support and pastoral care.As a leader of the team, you will also partner with your own group of students. This is a varied role where no one day is the same; you could be promoting our pathways at a high school one day and discussing academic support with a student's lecturer the next. You need to be well organized, a natural leader with initiative, maturity, and energy. Your strong relationship skills will ensure you develop and maintain key relationships with stakeholders such as whanau, school contacts, Ministry of Education agencies, iwi, and South Auckland community representatives.Working closely with the Pathways Manager, you will facilitate Transition Coordinator meetings, support recruitment and induction, and ensure the team takes responsibility for student groups by monitoring student progress in collaboration with the MIT teaching team and other key stakeholders. There are administration and reporting requirements, and your hands-on flexible approach will ensure you assist the team to get the mahi done.To be successful you will need:Strong group facilitation and leadership skillsExperience in supporting secondary age students, preferably in a tertiary environmentExperience with Maori and Pasifika students and their communitiesStrong administration ability and intermediate knowledge of Microsoft packages, particularly Word and ExcelA full driver's licenceIf you possess highly developed emotional intelligence and bring a collaborative approach along with the ability to think outside the box, be a problem solver with attention to detail, this role is for you.In return, the benefits are huge.
