Therapy Assistant, Allied Health Why Ora Program Taranaki12-month Fixed-Term; 0.7FTE (28 hours per week paid by Te Whatu Ora) and 0.3 FTE (12 hours per week paid by Why Ora) which totals to 1FTE (a full 40-hour week).The successful candidate must be part of Why Ora.Work alongside skilled therapists to deliver excellent patient care within Health New Zealand | Te Whatu Ora, Taranaki.Health New Zealand | Te Whatu Ora is firmly grounded in the principles of Te Tiriti o Waitangi and is committed to building a health system that serves all New Zealanders.About the RoleAs a Therapy Assistant, you will support therapists in delivering patient care within the Inpatient Rehabilitation, Acute Wards and, if required, Community.
Your responsibilities may include:Assisting with exercise programsPracticing activities of daily livingFacilitating or organizing group sessionsProviding equipmentCompleting cleaning tasksAdministrative tasksWorking with patients in the kitchenYou will collaborate with Occupational Therapists, Physiotherapists, and Speech-Language Therapists.
All patient interventions will be guided by and carried out under the supervision of a therapist or Therapy assistant until competencies are completed.About the ServiceTe Whatu Ora Taranaki employs approximately 350 allied health professionals across its services, and we're growing our inpatient physical health rehabilitation team by 60%.
