As Theatre Manager, you will provide leadership to the Theatre Suite, ensuring efficient resource utilisation and meeting patient needs while supporting and developing the theatre clinical leaders.This is a permanent role offered fulltime, Monday – Friday.Specific duties includeDevelop and maintain an equipment replacement register to ensure future-focused capital expenditure planning.Identify and develop staff to strengthen succession planning and retention within the theatre environment.Coach, mentor and support theatre leaders to effectively lead, grow and manage their teamsSupport theatre leaders to optimize resources for maximum theatre utilisation.Create innovative strategies to address skill shortages, improve staff retention, increase theatre time and ensure staff work to the top of their scope.Manage and own the theatre operation and capital expenditure programmes and budgetsLead change initiatives to improve outcomes, utilisation and efficiency.Desired Skills and ExperienceSkills and ExperienceAlongside your strong leadership skills and extensive perioperative experience, our ideal candidate will also be an excellent communicator with proven clinical credibility within the healthcare industry.
You will also need to demonstrate the following:Registration with the Nursing Council or Medical Sciences Council of New Zealand, pursuant to the Health Practitioners Competence Assurance Act 2003.Demonstrate sound professional judgementCurrent work experience in a theatre environment, preferably in a leadership capacityHave relevant knowledge of patient safety and resource management, including budgeting, equipment and staff managementDemonstrate clinical quality, safety and best practice.Confidence to build successful working relationships with those around you, the ability to work independently or within a multidisciplinary team environmentRelevant post-graduate qualification and ideally a current practicing certificateTo be eligible for employment at Mercy Hospital Dunedin, applicants will be required to provide a vaccination history.Why Mercy Hospital?Joining Mercy means more than just having a job but being part of a team that works together towards a shared purpose.
