The Role

This role is based in Wellington and reports to the Test Director.
A rare opportunity to lead the Test Automation and Performance strategies and CI/CD deployment methods for one of New Zealand's largest Telecommunication companies. This is a newly developed role to establish an in-house Test Engineering capability. While there is already an established Test Automation and Performance Testing Frameworks in place utilising a mix of Open-Source and Enterprise tooling, this role will be tasked with expanding on the capability and setting the direction of test automation moving forward. You will join a small but knowledgeable team of senior & junior automation and performance testers and provide direction for their testing practice and approach as they deliver into large scale Programme requirements. This role will make significant contributions to the organisation's overall success by providing strategic direction in their testing processes, using the latest tools and technologies in the automation space, and guiding and mentoring the team.
Your Background

Conversant with Automation and Performance systems/software;
Understanding of Automation framework design and proven ability in construction of Automation frameworks and automated test suites;
Excellent written, oral & presentation skills;
Strong communication and customer facing skills;
Proven ability using Java/J2EE, C#, Groovy, Ruby or NodeJS;
Working experience with web protocols, including HTTP, HTTPS, TCP/IP, and DNS;
Working experience of networking and web technologies such as HTML, JavaScript, jsp, asp, Flash, FLEX etc.;
Knowledge of web page composition (static vs. dynamic elements, browser behaviour, etc.);
Must have proven hands on experience in a number of Automation domains, ie Web UI, webservices, mobile;
Solid experience in maintaining automation test suits in a continuous integration setup;
Experience with a wide variety of Automation/Performance Tools and technologies with a key focus on experience in Open Source, i.e. Selenium;
Understands enterprise application architecture including cloud technologies;
Analysis and interpretation of performance measures and investigating of performance bottlenecks and make recommendations;
Ability to work independently as well as collaboratively within a team;
Experience in delivering customer-focused solutions based on customer needs;
Experience working in a dynamic and challenging environment;
Worked in a variety of delivery methods such as Agile, waterfall, DevOps etc.;
A proven background in establishing, leading and running a Test Engineering Capability;
Excellent communication and networking skills as this role will require taking people on a journey and getting buy-in from key Stakeholders;
Proficient in CI/CD including Jenkins and other automated deployment pipeline technologies;
Be able to demonstrate thought leadership and developing testing strategies for enterprise-scale products;
Well versed in Agile and DevOps environments with a strong ability to support continuous integration and continuous delivery; and
Advanced skills in presenting complex or detailed information to both technical and non-technical audiences.
