The Role

Demonstrate your expertise, passion and skills as you operate as part of an effective and engaged Technology Team.

This role is based in Wellington and reports to the Test Director.

The role of Test Automation Engineer is responsible for delivering Test Automation solutions internally within the Chorus Programme Delivery team. This team is new to Chorus so helping establish and develop the Test Automation practice will be a key requirement as will the challenge of continually improving and maturing it to meet ongoing demand.

The ideal candidate will possess strong delivery skills, be proactive in nature, motivational and influential. Additionally, being be diplomatic and having a good understanding of both Tactical and Strategic Delivery goals is important.

Your Background

If the above sounds like something you’d be interested in, here are the qualities and skills you possess:

Understanding of Automation framework design and proven ability in construction of Automation frameworks and automated test suites;
Demonstrated understanding of Pipeline CICD methodologies and process;
Demonstrated understanding of Source Control processes like GIT/Bitbucket to help entrench good coding practices;
Proven hands on experience in a number of Automation domains, ie Web UI, webservices, mobile, integration;
Proven ability coding in Java/J2EE, C#, Groovy or Ruby programming languages;
Good knowledge in REST and SOAP webservice communication protocols;
Understanding of web protocols including HTTP, HTTPS, TCP/IP, and DNS;
Understanding of networking and web technologies such as HTML, JavaScript, jsp, asp, Flash, AMQ,Mule, FLEX etc.;
Knowledge of web page composition (static vs. dynamic elements, browser behaviour, etc.);
Solid experience in maintaining automation test suits in a continuous integration setup;
Ability to work independently as well as collaboratively within a team;
Proven experience working with a variety of delivery methods such as Agile, Waterfall, CICD, DevOps etc.;
Strong communication and customer facing skills;
Understanding of all phases of test delivery and testing methods and ability to fluently explain these to others; and
Ease of communicating ideas, concepts and knowledge to both technical and non-technical audiences, both in writing and verbally, and can recognise when people do not understand what is being communicated.
