We are looking for an experienced Telecommunication technician to work on projects under Chorus for NGA (Next Generation Access) and UFB (Ultra-Fast Broadband) in Auckland. As a Telecommunication technician, you will be responsible for providing support to the development and maintenance of telecommunication infrastructure, technology, and networks. Tasks also involve assessing and resolving technical problems as required by our clients. The ability to install and configure Residential Gateways (RGW’s), modem, routers, and switches is a must.
Key responsibilities:
Install and download software and provide IT support for customers, manage wireless routers, switches, and landline telephones, configure telecommunication devices and
software like ICAD/Blue beam
Monitor data network, troubleshoot, repair, and/or replace Fibre, CAT5, and CAT6 cables,
Terminate fibre optic cables including patch, indoor, and outdoor cables,
Lead and train new staff,
Fibre cabling and fusion splicing in commercial and domestic properties,
Provide ongoing customer support, configure and install modems and routers,
QA tests as per the job and vendor requirements followed by replacing/rectify or repair network components
Update network records for and changes in the network layout
Install and maintain plain old telephone services (POST) and broadband (DSL), mounting of optical network terminals (ONT) and fiber terminal points (FTP),
Maintain health and safety standards, commissioning of optic fibre, copper and computer networks
Qualifications & experience-
Qualification gained in Telecommunications/ Computing/ IT/ Electronics/ Networking/ Communication is must
Have proven experience of working in the telecommunications industry of at least 1 year or more is
All WTC course completion certificates: WTC1, WTC3.
First Aid Certificate. STSM L1 certificate
