Key responsibilities include supporting the deliveryof quality learningprogrammes within the School of Construction and Engineering through managingclass materials, tools and equipment, preparing purchase orders and tracking deliveries, maintainingsupplier relationships, basic financial monitoring and delivery of equipment and resources for teaching programmes, as well as day to day manual tasks that allow the programmes to run smoothly for tutors and students.
This role includes management and preparationof workshops and building sitesand may include assisting Tutors in the classrooms, workshopsand on site.
Key technical attributes for the roleare a relevant carpentry trade qualification and broad industry experience. Youwill also be a Licensed building practitioner (or capable of achieving Licensewithout further training), have sound working knowledge of building compliance& legislative requirements and the ability to interpret constructiondrawings and specifications (advanced level). High level on-job communicationskills are essential to this role. A forklift licence and Health and safetytraining would be an advantage.
The successful applicant will have strong interpersonal skills and the ability to communicate and converse positively with a wide range of stakeholders including staff,students, and internal and external customers.
Essential personal attributes are leadershipand self-management, initiative, and the ability to work well independently andwithin a team environment. The rolealso requires excellent self-management, time management and planning skills.
This position requires a degree of moderate/heavy lifting and otherphysical activities throughout the day so will suit someonewho is physically fit.
The primary work site for this positionis intended to be the Whitireia Porirua campus; though staff might also berequired to work on other delivery sites, including the Regional School ofConstruction campus in Petone and Rimutaka Prison.
