We have a fantastic opportunity for an experienced Medical Laboratory Scientist to join our Molecular Genetics team as a Technical Specialist.
The Molecular Genetics team provides the inherited genetics service for the greater Auckland region and beyond. The team specialises in the inherited causes of cancer, diabetes, cardiac diseases as well as metabolic and neurological disorders. They work in a dynamic environment with close clinical interaction, and new test development is always in the pipeline.
In this role, you will use your expertise to mentor lab staff and develop new diagnostic services as well as help deliver our routine service using a wide array of molecular techniques available in our laboratory.
This is a key role for the department and will be supported by the Section Leader of Molecular Genetics and the Technical Head of Diagnostic Genetics.

About you:
As the ideal candidate for this role, you will either be registered or be eligible for registration as a Medical Laboratory Scientist with the Medical Sciences Council www.mscouncil.org.nz and will also have the following skills and attributes:
Have a passion for excellent service delivery.
Have experience with project management and assay development.
Have experience with Next Generation Sequencing, variant curation and a comprehensive knowledge of the ACMG guidelines.
Have excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
Adaptive nature to thrive in highly dynamic team
Experience in providing training and mentoring
