Krero mo te turanga (About the role):
The Team Manager Animal Exports is responsible for the team deliverables which include: developing and reviewing export standards; ensuring that zoosanitary certification meets the import conditions agreed between MPI and the competent authority of the importing country; managing approvals of AWEC applications for livestock shipments and actively managing the three main stakeholders - industry, inter-agencies and the general public.
Within this role, your responsibilities would include:
Providing technical and policy advice on exports of live animals and germplasm (semen and embryos) and potential hazards to the Minister, Director-General and other relevant parties as required;
Supervising and/or undertaking the development and promulgation of technical standards for the control of live animal and germplasm exports;
Supervising and/or undertaking the review of technical requirements for the exports of the live animals and germplasm;
Participating in the negotiation of export requirements for live animals and germaplasm; and
Ensuring that technical queries/issues are dealt with and reviewing technical advice accordingly
Mou - About You:
To be a success in this role, you will need the following skills and experience:
5-10 years relevant technical/professional experience
5-10 years government experience
Knowledge of international agreements and standards for biosecurity and zoosanitary measures.
Knowledge of international audit/quality standards
Proven negotiation skills
Experience in analysing technical issues and making business decisions with financial impact
