Job Description Team Leader – Veterinary Service Location: Flexible (Auckland or Waikato preferred)

Are you an experienced veterinarian ready to take the next step into leadership? We're looking for a confident and capable Team Leader – Veterinary Services to join our Auditing Services team. This unique hybrid role combines people leadership with hands-on veterinary fieldwork, providing variety, challenge, and the opportunity to make a real impact in New Zealand's rural sector.

As a Team Leader, you'll be responsible for leading a team that delivers contracted auditing and assurance services across your region. You'll manage team performance, ensure service standards are met, drive engagement and wellbeing, and support continuous improvement across operations. Field delivering will be required for veterinary services—including export certification, on-farm assurance, and biosecurity support—helping to protect the integrity of New Zealand's agricultural exports.

Key responsibilities:
• Lead, coach, and support your team to meet performance, health & safety, and service delivery goals
• Manage workflow, resource planning, and reporting across your region
• Conduct team meetings, performance appraisals, and contribute to succession planning
• Deliver field-based veterinary services such as live animal export certification, auditing, and technical support
• Build strong relationships with customers and industry stakeholders
• Support operational projects and contribute to business improvement initiatives
• Provide input into budgeting, resource use, and productivity reporting
• Promote a strong safety culture and ensure compliance with best practice H&S standards

What we're looking for:
• A qualified and registered veterinarian (BVSc or equivalent) with current VCNZ registration
• Proven experience in large animal or general veterinary practice
• Previous leadership, team supervision, or operational management experience
• Excellent communication, interpersonal, and relationship-building skills
• Strong time management and ability to prioritise in a dynamic environment
• A solid understanding of New Zealand farming systems and animal production industries
