Who are we looking for? The Team Administrator will provide effective administrative support to the NZSL Secretariat. You will work with the NZSL Senior Advisor (NZSL) and Advisor (NZSL) providing administrative service to the NZSL Secretariat. We are looking for an experienced administrator who has a passion for providing an outstanding level of support to join our supportive and dynamic team.
If you are proactive, reliable, consistent, able to problem solve, and have strong organisational and relationship management skills, then this could be the job for you!
You will be responsible for;
Supporting the NZSL Secretariat with the Office for Disability Issues
Carrying out all administrative duties including minute taking
Organising travel and events
Financial administration in collaboration with the Director
Experience and attributes;
Be a fluent user of New Zealand Sign Language
Confident meeting and talking with a wide group of people
Comfortable connecting with people using digital platforms
Happy to take direction and get hands on
Be action oriented and flexible about availability
Have honesty and integrity
To be successful in the role, you will have:• excellent communication skills – ability to build solid relationships is key• strong multi-tasking and time-management skills with the ability to prioritise.• proficiency in MS Word, MS Excel and MS Outlook a must• a proactive, "can-do" attitude• pre-empt what needs to be done and be keen to help• experience in setting agendas and minute taking.
We're the Office for Disability Issues (ODI)
The Office for Disability Issues is the focal point within government for the development and implementation of the New Zealand Disability Strategy (2016-26) and Disability Action Plan in order to give effect to the progressive realisation of disabled peoples' rights and opportunities as described in the UN Convention on the Rights of Persons with Disabilities (UNCRPD). The Office also provides secretariat support to the New Zealand Sign Language Board – organising meeting attendance, taking minutes, developing papers for the Board, and supporting the Board's work programme to maintain and promote NZSL through the NZSL Strategy and the NZSL fund. The Office sits within the Policy group of MSD. The Ministry of Social Development (MSD) is one of the lead agencies for the social sector. We help the Government to set priorities across the sector, co-ordinate the actions of other social sector agencies and track changes in the social wellbeing of New Zealanders.
