We're a small brewery, located in an old petrol station in Aro Valley. It's an unlikely place for a brewery but our aim in the Garage is to create unique and beautiful beers. We like pushing boundaries, reinterpreting styles and challenging the notions of what beer can be. We're here to try something new. Just like you.
If you haven’t visited the space already, The Taproom is inviting and intimate with 20 GP beers always available on tap. There’s canned and bottled product and a simple and tasty food line up also, but the focus is always the ever changing tap line up.

About the role
We have a part-time position available for a new crew member. We are looking for someone to join the family long-term, who is flexible to work varied hours including weekends. This position is exciting as you will be working front of house at our Taproom providing outstanding customer service, a passion for craft beer and natural wine and an eye for detail.
We also have a small food offering in the Taproom and pre-prepare most items on our menu. This role will have a focus on assisting with the running of our kitchen and this is a great opportunity to apply your love of food, too. You’ll learn, create, and have input on the Garage Project Taproom menu using the best of sustainably sourced local ingredients.

About you
Critical to the ongoing success of the Taproom is its tight crew of energetic, knowledgeable and downright friendly humans. Your experience in the service of alcohol and solid craft beer knowledge are essential; a current duty managers certificate and previous work history including food preparation would be helpful.
The unique story and presentation of our beers are paramount to us, and must be also to our ideal candidate - it will be a constant goal of yours to be pouring a great pint, every time, in a smartly presented environment. It goes without saying that a genuine love and knowledge of beer is a prerequisite for this position - all of our crew have a true love of beer and are well versed in the finer details of our product.
The Taproom is popular, so an ability to multitask at pace is an absolute must. Aside from the above attributes you must be ‘house proud’ and have genuine enthusiasm and drive - the unique story and presentation of our beers are paramount to us, as is a cohesive and content workplace.
Above all, strong people skills need to shine brightly - a warm and welcoming disposition, the ability to strike up a conversation with ease and be non-critical of customer's beer preferences. Prior skills attained from a hospitality background are preferable and a sound beer knowledge essential.
