Salary and Hours:

$23.84 - $29.10 per hour depending on relevant qualifications, with potential for higher earnings as you gain qualifications.
Minimum of 60 guaranteed hours per fortnight.
Overtime opportunities available.
Opportunity to perform up to 6 sleepover shifts of up to 10 hours each per fortnight, paid at the prevailing minimum wage.
About the Role
As a Support Worker, you will support individuals with intellectual disabilities to lead fulfilling lives at home and within their community.
This meaningful work allows you to be creative and make a positive impact on others' lives.
The position is based in the Taranaki Region, reporting to the relevant Service Manager within the Area Office.
Your specific work locations within the area will be directed by your Service Manager.
Key Responsibilities

Supporting individuals to develop independence and daily living skills, such as using public transport, employment, managing money, and cooking.
Assisting with personal needs and daily activities, including shopping, cleaning, showering, and medical appointments.
Engaging in interests and hobbies like outings to parks or beaches, sports, arts and crafts.
Driving IDEA vehicles to transport clients within the community.
Supporting clients to recognize and respond to emotional overwhelm safely.
Helping clients to plan, set, and achieve goals, and make decisions.
Ensuring strong connections with whanau and the community.
Promoting health and positive lifestyle choices.

Pay rate varies based on NZ Certificates in Health and Wellbeing or equivalent qualifications, with clear progression:
No qualification: $23.84
NZCHW Level 2 or equivalent: $24.78
NZCHW Level 3 or equivalent: $26.94
NZCHW Level 4 or equivalent: $29.10
Support towards completing Level 2, 3, and 4 Certificates in Health and Wellbeing.

Candidate Requirements

NZ Certificate in Health and Wellbeing Level 3 or 4, with relevant work experience, or recognized equivalent.
Flexibility to work shifts including days, evenings, sleepovers, and weekends.
Calm demeanor and confidence in managing challenging behaviors.
Proficiency in using computers and tablets daily.
Strong communication skills, both written and verbal.
Full NZ driver's license or eligibility to obtain one within 6 months.
