Summary

Provide support to people in the mental health sector through the awake night shifts and be prepared to ‘do whatever its takes’. Are you the support worker we are looking for? Someone who is passionate about supporting people on their recovery journeys. If so, then keep reading.

The Role:
You'll be working in Pathways Wellington's 24-hour acute respite services, supporting people experiencing mental illness.

Whitby Respite- 40 hours per week Sunday to Thursday alternating shifts

Week One:7:00 am to 3:00 pm
Week Two: 2:30 pm to 11:00 pm

You'll have a caring nature and be passionate about helping people on their recovery journeys. People will describe you as a real 'people person'- someone who can relate to and connect with anyone – a team player. You'll be practical and have plenty of common sense and of course, you'll have heaps of initiative and be keen to learn. Perhaps you've been out of the workforce for a time and are looking for the perfect position to step back into the fold.

You will also need to:
• Have basic computer skills – you'll be able to document daily notes succinctly on a computer
• Have basic levels of numeracy and literacy Excellent communication skills with an emphasis on listening skills
• Be able to provide medication support for our people
• Be able to work in a recovery focused way.

You'll also need to be prepared to do whatever it takes - cleaning, cooking, gardening

The Team

You’ll be reporting to the Team Coach and joining our Pathways Wellington Respite Service teams - all with a common purpose to support people experiencing mental illness.

You

•You must hold a current full drivers’ licence
•Do you hold the New Zealand Certificate in Health and Wellbeing (NZCHW) or a recognised equivalent, or are currently studying towards this qualification or a recognised equivalent? Please note all working on a respite service will require the above qualification.
•Hold a current first aid certificate or be willing to obtain one
