Do you enjoy leading a team to get the best out of people and deliver great work? Have you thought about working for an organisation that is committed to making New Zealand the greatest living space on Earth?
The Maniapoto District has plenty to offer with some of Aotearoa's most iconic locations such as the Waitomo Caves, Timber Trail and Pureora Forest Park all right at your doorstep! Within driving distance, you could be at the beach in Tauranga, skiing on Mount Ruapehu, shopping in Hamilton or cruising on a boat on Lake Taupo.
The role
As a natural leader, a key part of your role will be to inspire, support and coach our people to perform, build their capability and preserve a great team culture. Your passion for making a positive impact for conservation will shine through, inspiring your team to continuously strive to deliver bigger and better environmental outcomes for the region.
We have a huge emphasis on health, safety and wellbeing with staff and contractors. From any day to another the team you're leading are out in the field monitoring and protecting native wildlife, habitats and plants right through to controlling pests and weeds.
A bit about you
You will be an experienced or an up-and-coming leader demonstrating your capability in building people's capacity, lifting performance and engagement. Ideally you have a background in biodiversity or wider ecology, however a passion in this area is just as important.
We are looking for someone with superb communication and stakeholder management skills to enable you to work across the whole DOC whanau, with our mana whenua partners, community groups, private landowners, schools and non-government organisations to support best practice conservation practices and outcomes.
You may be an experienced people leader wanting a change in your environment, looking for better work life balance where you can bring your transferrable skills to conservation.
Key skills
Proven experience in leading, mentoring and coaching
Excellent communication and collaboration skills
Strong health and safety focus
Personal attributes including resilience and flexibility
Knowledge or experience in field conservation management would be advantageous
Full NZ drivers licence
What We Offer
You will enjoy being part of our expert, committed and capable biodiversity and wider operations team. Our priority is providing the best possible working environment for our staff which includes a focus on employee wellbeing and career progression opportunities.
You can expect a competitive salary and work in a flexible and supportive work environment.
For any queries, please contact Oscar Emery on 027 296 5289 or **********
