If you’ve got strong animal husbandry experience with dairy and steers and want to join a farm that is one year into a three year transition to certified organic, this could be a great role for you.
Our Stock Manager will look after this stand-alone 630 hectare block within a larger property of 3000 hectares. You’ll look after a single block, however, you’ll also be part of a wider team on Orakonui. As a dairy support / beef finishing property, you’ll be looking after bulls, bull beef, dairy heifers, winter grazers, and steers. You will also be responsible for pasture management and feed budgets, stock reqs, and maintenance works. You’ll oversee and carry out the animal health plan so that the animals can grow in an organic way. Ideally our successful candidate will have three plus years’ farming experience.
As the Stock Manager, you’ll take this piece of land through its transition to a fully organic closed system. Don’t have experience with organic farming? As long as you have the ability to learn and are open-minded, we’ll be happy to teach you and support you.
Attention to detail is pretty important in this role, as there are additional reporting requirements for transitioning organic farms – so past experience with data entry would be advantageous. Exposure to the latest farm management software Farmax/FarmIQ will be a plus, however, we’re happy to train the right candidate.
Our successful candidate will be provided a three bedroom home on Aratiatia Farm as well as a work vehicle to be used for work purposes. We offer an attractive salary with additional benefits (health insurance, permanent disablement insurance, 4% Kiwisaver contribution, and more), as well as ongoing training and personal development to help you reach your personal and career goals.
Located in Taupo, you’ll be close to a range of outdoor recreational activities - the lake, the bush, walking, hiking, and skiing to name a few. This is a great opportunity and a great lifestyle!
