Description
We are looking for experienced Steel Fixers to join our business, Extrastaff Limited.
Our growing company requires an organized and trustworthy individual who takes pride in quality workmanship.
You should be motivated and result-driven.
You may be asked to work across the country to support our projects, so flexibility regarding work locations is preferred.
The Steel Fixer is responsible for:
Positioning and securing steel bars, rods, cables, or mesh in concrete forms using fasteners, rod bending machines, blowtorches, or hand tools.
Spacing and fastening rods together in forms according to blueprints, using wire and pliers.
Determining quantities, sizes, shapes, and locations of reinforcing rods from blueprints, sketches, or oral instructions.
Placing blocks under rebar to elevate the bars off the deck when reinforcing floors.
Cutting rods to required lengths using metal shears, hacksaws, bar cutters, or acetylene torches.
Cutting and fitting wire mesh or fabric using hooked rods, and positioning fabric or mesh in concrete for reinforcement.
Bending steel rods with hand tools or rod bending machines and welding them with arc-welding equipment.
Performing all other duties as assigned.
Skills and experience required:
Preferably a minimum of 1 year of relevant steel fixing experience or qualification equivalent to NZQF level 2 or 3.
Friendly demeanor, good time management, and excellent work ethic.
A commitment to learning and developing skills within the industry.
Sound knowledge of health and safety procedures.
Reliable and hardworking.
Pay Conditions
Minimum $25.50 per hour to a maximum of $32.00 per hour.
Hours of work
Guaranteed minimum of 30 hours per week.
Travel Requirements
You may need to occasionally travel to Auckland, Northland, Waikato, Bay of Plenty, Hawke's Bay, Taranaki, Gisborne, Whanganui-Manawatu, Wellington, Marlborough, Nelson-Tasman, Canterbury, West Coast, Otago, and Southland.
