Assessments Australia, a MAX Solutions company, is contracted to provide the Assessment Service for the Program for Students with Disabilities (PSD - AS) for the Victorian Department of Education and Training in the categories of Intellectual Disability and Severe Language Disorder with Critical Educational Needs. Staff and contractor assessors conduct cognitive and speech pathology assessments in state government schools to ascertain eligibility to apply for support under the Program for Students with Disabilities (PSD).
The PSD - AS processes referrals for assessment from government schools and allocates assessors as appropriate to conduct assessments in schools. High quality reports are written that meet the needs of various stakeholder groups, especially schools and families of the students assessed.

About the position

The primary function of the Staff Assessor - Psychology: Program for Students with Disabilities Assessment Service (PSD - AS) is to conduct cognitive assessments in schools and complete comprehensive reports according to PSD and Assessments Australias requirements. This role provides the opportunity to develop expertise in the administration, interpretation and reporting of cognitive and adaptive behaviour assessments. Staff Assessors work largely autonomously, with the support of our administrative and professional teams, and provision of ongoing professional learning. In addition to local referrals, travel to remote and regional areas within Victoria is required, with some overnight stays.
This role can be full-time or part-time (minimum three days per week). Staff Assessors have the flexibility to write reports from home, and are expected to attend our Melbourne office a minimum of twice per month.

Key Skills

Experience conducting standardised assessments: WISC, WAIS, WPPSI
Experience working with school aged children and adolescents
Strong assessment and report writing skills (quality and efficiency)
Ability to prioritise, plan and organise workflow to tight timeframes, handle multiple tasks and be flexible with changing priorities
Proven high level IT literacy, particularly in common applications including Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, Outlook, PowerPoint), database and web usages

Requirements

Full registration as a Psychologist with AHPRA
Minimum of 12 months experience conducting standardised assessments: WPPSI, WISC, WAIS
Experience working with school-aged children and adolescents
Desirable but not essential is experience in the education, special education, or disability fields
Ability to travel to regional areas of Victoria and to stay overnight when required
Hold or have the ability to obtain a new Police Clearance and Working with Children Check
Willingness to provide two de-identified assessment reports
