Applications are sought for a Consultant in Vascular Surgery at Waikato Hospital, Hamilton. This is a replacement post to maintain the current team of 6 Consultants. The post will be based at Waikato Hospital which is the designated tertiary centre for the Midland region.
The post offers an exciting opportunity to support the expanding and developing vascular services offered by a busy department with a strong record in teaching and training. This is an excellent opportunity to join a friendly and cohesive team of 6 consultant vascular surgeons and 4 interventional radiologists, serving a combined population regionally of just over 840,000 people. We have a close working relationship with Renal services providing access for 400 HD patients, Diabetes services running a busy high risk foot service and Thoracic with an active programme for complex aortic work. In addition we have a specialist vascular lab with 4 dedicated vascular sonographers and a trainee. The department also has a strong research interest including an academic surgeon linked to the University of Auckland.
The successful applicant will cover elective and emergency vascular work and be expected to cover the full range of open, endovascular and endovenous treatments in a dynamic MDT setting.
