We are seeking a Consultant Radiation Oncologist to join our progressive and multidisciplinary department at Waikato Hospital for a permanent position starting as soon as possible. Our broad focus on patient care, research and education offers an excellent career opportunity.
We are looking for a clinician with expertise or interest in gynaecological cancers, stereotactic body radiation (SBRT), central nervous system (CNS) and head and neck cancers. The remuneration package for this role is in accordance with the Senior Medical Officers MECA.
Waikato DHB provides the full spectrum of Radiation Oncology services. Our department runs on the Eclipse planning system and has four linear accelerators able to provide all aspects of modern radiation delivery including rotational IMRT and image guidance through cone beam CT. The department also has superficial kilovoltage equipment for the treatment of skin cancers. We are the national leader in HDR brachytherapy treatment, with an active brachytherapy programme treating multiple different anatomic sites with an emphasis on cervical and prostate brachytherapy. We routinely use stereotactic ablative radiation therapy for treatment of early lung cancer and lung metastases and also deliver linear accelerator based fractionated radiosurgery for the treatment of brain metastases. The successful applicant would have the opportunity to be involved in the development of radiosurgical techniques to other body sites if they chose. We are also the national provider of total skin electron therapy for skin lymphomas.
At Waikato Hospital you would join a team of seven medical oncologists, seven haematologists, eight radiation oncologists and seven palliative care physicians.
