We invite you to join our vibrant, committed and supportive team of special education advisors.
We have 2 permanent full-time positions:
Psychologist/Special Education Advisor position - Waikato South East team
Special Education Advisor position - Waikato North team.
You will work as part of a multi-disciplinary collaborative team providing ecological assessment, intervention, training and reporting services, advising and supporting schools and early childhood centres to provide inclusive practices that enable student success.
You will need strong teaming skills and the competency to establish effective relationships with whanau, parents, families, educators and key providers working within the community.
An awareness and sensitivity to cultural and ethnic diversity, a strong commitment to the Treaty of Waitangi, the Ministries priorities and the Maori education strategy ‘Ka Hikitia', are essential.
A knowledge of Te Reo me nga Tikanga and previous successful engagement with Maori ishighly desirable.
Post-graduate degree or diploma in education, special education or related discipline relevant to the focus of the position (e.g. family work, disability or mental health).
Demonstrated successful experience in classroom or other relevant settings and of including students with special needs in classroom or other relevant settings. A current driver's license is required.
