Brew'd Island Bay is based on the main road in Island Bay with a great local base. Brew’d Island Bay owned and operated by The Wellington Hospitality Group which is one of Wellington’s largest Hospitality companies with over 20 unique bars and restaurants spread over NZ’s capital city. We have a full time vacancy for a Sous Chef who wants to join a company who are focused on growth and development of their team. We're looking for a Sous Chef with an "I can do anything attitude' and a willingness to learn. Due to the small, tight knit team at Brew’d, we expect this Chef to get stuck in! We’re on the hunt for someone who isn’t afraid to support the Junior Chefs and help with the dishes from time to time. After all, we are all about team culture!

The primary purpose of the Sous Chef is to support the Head Chef and lead the team in the absence of the Head Chef. You're a leader, trainer and mentor to all senior and junior Chefs as well as Kitchen Hands. A Sous Chef is a developmental role with the aim to expand on already strong cookery skills, as well as management skills, so as to one day run the kitchen. By supporting the Head Chef your purpose is to absorb skills needed to effectively lead a team of Chefs, understand menu costings and development and run a kitchen efficiently and innovatively.

Key Requirements of the role:
At least 2 years experience in a similar role, we will accept applications from Senior Chefs who have experience around COG’s and ordering.
Exceptional culinary skills with a passion for pushing the boundaries
Proven communication skills
Ability to empower team by passing on culinary knowledge and experience
Willingness to be hands on during key service times – weekends and evenings included
Ability to follow and execute Food Safety plan and follow company procedures
High personal standards passed on to entire kitchen team
