ABOUT THE ROLE
The Software Engineer Team Lead role is a newly created role leading a newly created team with an opportunity to shape something and create it your own. As part of the team you will lead and contribute by providing superior technical software development, support and customer service across all production product platforms for both internal and external clients. Collaborating with R&D project teams you will be accountable for the transition from prototype to production quality code and confidently manage and schedule all ongoing bug fixes and enhancements, ensuring adherence to software and product quality standards. To be successful in this role you should have great collaboration and facilitation skills along with a great technical mindset.
DUTIES
• Support R&D teams in transitioning proof of concept and prototype systems to production products
• Collaborate with the R&D Software, Hardware, IT and Support teams on product deployments
• Work with cross-functional teams on triaging and resolving complex technical issues
• Maintain and improve performance of existing software to ensure strong functionality, optimisation, and maintainability
• Provide coaching and support to junior members of the team including task allocation and supervision
• Provide people leadership and management to reporting staff across all aspects of the employee lifecycle
SKILLS & EXPERIENCE
• 5 + years’ experience in a software production level environment
• 3 + years’ in leading a team of software engineers
• Experience using memory efficient languages such as C/C++
• Strong Python software development experience
• Strong Linux administration and remote management of many Linux based systems
• Remote deployment automation experience
• Good knowledge of build systems (Cmake/Make)
• Experience of Continuous integration (Jenkins)
• Ideally experience using robotic frameworks (e.g. ROS, ROS2 or other communication frameworks)
