Details of the offer

We are a startup in wine technology. We provide winemakers with the best access to data analytics they’ve ever had. We’re in an exciting stage of growth, having successfully completed two pilots in the 2019 vintage and gearing up for large scale delivery for 2020.
We need someone to join our team as a software engineer to build and scale our platform. We anticipate this role building into a lead engineer position. You’ll be a confident and resourceful person that loves a challenge and doesn’t get defeated easily. You’ll thrive in an environment of uncertainty that requires you to take a lead on decisions. Our culture accepts failure and believes action, even if wrong, it's better than no action. It’s what you learn that’s important!
Please note: we are not committed to a technology stack - this will be one of the first of many major decisions that is up to you. If you’re the right person for the job this should excite rather than scare you ;)Your skills and experience Experienced engineer - you’ll have worked across multiple projects, ideally including creating your own projects. Leadership - you’ll have worked extensively in teams and have experience leading projects. Analytical mindset - ability to analyse what works and what doesn’t - objectively. Customer-centric with excellent written and verbal communication skills - you’ll be communicating directly to our customers to see what they think about the software. Problem solver - your primary role is to solve problems - you must have a positive approach to solving complex problems. Get stuff done - we have tight time frames and deliverables - our motto is ‘better done than perfect’ - this does not mean we like poor quality work - this means we would rather get SOMETHING in front of our customers asap for feedback so we can then improve and build further rather than building everything ‘in the dark’. Job details Hours - ideally you will start at 20 hrs a week but be available to move up to full time in the next 2 months. Pay and remuneration - we are looking at about $20-30/hr, bonuses. We anticipate an ESOP to be part of this remuneration. Location - we are based in Dunedin, we work out of a factory site, we’d love to host you there at our factory but equally if working from home or somewhere else is better for you, do that - all we care about is you and results. Check out our values to see if there is a fit! What we bring to the table Support - we won’t hold your hand in this role but we will be there for you - we’re a small crew - with some global leaders as advisory and specialists Fun - we have a positive culture and we love to work hard but also have fun Food - there is pretty much always something cooking in our kitchen - we’re happy to share. A cat - we like to bring our cat to the office - she is a rescue cat and is ‘shy’ so will take awhile to warm up to you (and completely leave you alone if that’s what you want). Travel opportunities - if you’re interested we often go visit our customers in person (beautiful locations from Cromwell to Marlborough) - you’re welcome to come on the calls with us - we are very customer-centric and believe everyone meeting with the customers will help them improve their work.
Sound like you? Apply now!
