Your Role:
We are looking for a Signal Box Controller to join our team on a permanent basis in Wellington Railway Station. In this interesting role you will be responsible for operating the Signal Box's control equipment and make logistical decisions about train movements so that Terminal and Mainline rail services operate as an effective and integrated unit in support of rail operators. Responsibilities include liaising with Train Control about movements on the corridor through the Signal Box territory; ensuring local movements are consistent with the overall network plan and recording/reporting service and safety information including timekeeping and incidents to Train Control.
Your Skills:
When the network is busy, disrupted and demanding, that is the time when your composure will be put to the test. Rising to the challenge will be second nature to you. Signal Box Controllers are jugglers, problem solvers and excellent communicators. A Track Maintenance Worker is waiting track side, commuters are travelling to work, a Freight Train needs to connect with a Ferry and it is 'Rush Hour' - what do you do? These are priorities our Signal Box Controllers face every day. They need to come up with immediate solutions that work and are safe.
Your previous experience where accuracy and attention to detail was essential will be matched with:
Strong problem solving skills under pressure
Good communication skills including a clear and concise voice
A passion for learning with excellent customer service skills
Class 1 driving licence
Ability to work a 24/7 Rotating Roster
