More than one million people visit Department of Conservation (DOC) visitor sites across the country annually. Dramatic changes in the visitor industry over the last 12 months requires dynamic thinking.

The country's largest tourism experience provider, DOC, has become more strategic and forward-thinking in visitor management and experience design.

Protect, Connect and Thrive are three key drivers to the new DOC Heritage & Visitor Strategy and these values provide the backbone in supporting experience design, visitor planning and rolling out new systems and processes across all levels within the Department.

DOC is looking for a strategically focussed, confident communicator that can influence and advise key decision-makers in the management of our visitors and our key visitor sites and destinations.

He angitutanga: About the Role

The Senior Visitor Advisor reports to the Visitor Advice manager and is part of the newly created national Heritage & Visitor Unit. The role is based in Hamilton and will primarily support and advise senior leadership staff in the Hauraki, Waikato, Taranaki region. There are also opportunities to support national and cross-regional visitor-related projects.

The role requires a confident communicator with proven relationship management experience. A background in visitor planning, destination management, travel and tourism are ideal. You will be involved in leading strategic conversations to turn the strategy into reality; connecting across visitor projects, teams and work to improve outcomes and efficiencies.
