An exciting opportunity exists as aSenior Technical Advisorto join the Occupational Licensing Team in MBIE's Market Integrity Branch.
The successful candidate will be responsible for providing high quality technical advisory services, in support of Occupational Licensing/Registration functions, to practitioners, stakeholders and the wider Occupation Regulation and making decisions under delegation and/or support to the appropriate person for making statutory decisions for licensing, assessments and examinations.
In this roleyou will take the lead to manage complex technical work. They provide expert technical advice and thought leadership within their sphere of expertise to solving issues. Through this, they also contribute to the direction set for the team and regulatory regimes the team supports.
You are a positive, energetic self-starter who will be expected to perform core delegated duties as well as provide expert advice on regulatory, licensing or registration matters and assist the Registrar of Electrical Workers, the Registrar Building Practitioner Licensing, the Registrar of Immigration Advisers and Team Leaders and staff within the Occupational Licensing Team. You will take the lead on projects and move to implement regulatory levers to ensure the occupational regimes are operating at an optimal level.
Your work will contribute to the quality, efficiency and effectiveness of the entire regulatory system by ensuring that best practice is followed, processes and procedures are efficient, and the right advice is available. You will be proactive and exercise influence to change regulatory settings and processes.
The successful candidate will demonstrate:
Significant industry experience as a thought leader in the immigration regulatory system, this includes knowledge of current immigration law, policy, procedures, guidelines, and occupational licensing requirements;
Knowledge and understanding of the Privacy Act 2020 and the Official Information Act 1982;
A demonstrated knowledge and understanding of the principles of occupational regulation, natural justice and fairness;
Positive working attitudes with all people of differing cultural backgrounds, gender and abilities;
Ability to work effectively without direct supervision, managing and organising fluctuating workloads in sometimes stressful situations.
Capability to establish positive external relationships with a wide variety of organisations, groups and individuals.
Excellent oral communication and interpersonal skills, an ability to communicate complex technical information to laypeople
Excellent writing skills, that is the ability to present ideas, information and advice, in a way that is understandable and acceptable by a range of audiences;
Strong analytical skills and a demonstrated ability to exercise sound, reasoned judgement and decision making;
Initiative, energy and determination to achieve with a sense of urgency;
Ability to make the linkages between issues, and proactively problem solve to achieve the best outcome;
An understanding of quality management systems such as ISO 9001, and experience leading internal or external auditing/assurance regimes
