At the heart of the electricity sector, we transport high voltage electricity from where it is generated to large electricity users and the distribution businesses that deliver it to homes and businesses nationwide.Our core purpose is to empower the energy future for New Zealand - a future that delivers a net-zero carbon economy and a reliable and secure electricity system.About the teamThe Transpower Sustainability team is responsible for improving the sustainability of our ongoing operations while driving long-term change.The Sustainability team develops the sustainability strategy, which is underpinned by an extensive implementation programme to ensure we continually improve the sustainability of our operations across all divisions and teams within Transpower, as well as with our service provider, supplier, and community partners.Over the long term, the Sustainability team is working with the business and service providers to drive behaviour change so 'the sustainable way' becomes business as usual.
The Sustainability team is also responsible for the effective and efficient delivery of Transpower's emissions, sustainability, and climate risk disclosure reporting.About the OpportunityAs our Senior Sustainability Advisor, you will play a critical role in the delivery of Transpower's climate risk disclosure reporting and support our Sustainability Initiative Programme in line with Transpower's Sustainability Strategy.
This role supports the effectiveness and success of climate risk reporting and the sustainability implementation programme through:Leading the delivery of the annual climate risk disclosure reporting, including managing and reviewing enterprise-wide contributions;Managing and monitoring ongoing climate risks and opportunities implementation and initiative programmes to ensure ongoing governance, strategy, measurement, and reporting of climate risks and opportunities;Supporting delivery of the sustainability initiative programme in line with Transpower's sustainability strategy.As Senior Sustainability Advisor, you will collaborate across the business to champion and deliver the Climate Statement and associated programmes of work and sustainable operations aligned with climate risk governance and sustainability best practices.What will you bring?With a relevant background in a sustainability or cross-functional programme management role at a Senior level, you will have worked within a scaled and complex organisation, participating in cross-functional programmes.We are seeking strong relationship, stakeholder engagement, and management skills, underpinned by a customer-centric, collaborative, and relationship-focused approach.
You will be someone who operates with excellent time management skills and is comfortable in a high workload, task-driven environment.You will have a proven ability to navigate ambiguity and develop practices and processes; therefore, you possess strong coordination, organisational, and administrative skills, with the ability to multi-task, pick things up quickly, and apply keen attention to detail while remaining results-focused.This opportunity will suit someone who enjoys applying excellent problem-solving skills and their ability to think across systems while exercising excellent communication skills and operating with an inclusive and collaborative leadership style.
You will be adept at teasing out facts, exercising discretion and good independent judgment while engaging and influencing stakeholders, partners, and contractors to achieve common goals.To be considered for this opportunity, your CV and cover letter will clearly demonstrate:Understanding of XRB Climate Standards or equivalent, and Greenhouse Gas reporting standards (GHG Protocol, ISO 14064) and expertise in preparing sustainability, risk, or integrated reporting.Excellent analytical skills, applied in a commercial environment, and with the ability to draw insight from analysis and communicate these insights effectively.Sound experience with developing both qualitative and quantitative metrics.Proven experience in writing, reviewing, and where necessary revising key reporting documents.Join us at TranspowerAotearoa is powered by the people who work here.
