While based in New Plymouth, you will be working across the Beca Industrial business and other teams in New Zealand, Australia and across South-East Asian projects.

In this role, you will be part of the team working with clients, contractors and vendors to deliver a diverse range of projects.
You will gain experience across industries including three waters, ports and marine, minerals and metals, food and life science, wood and fibre, energy and manufacturing as well as expanding into commercial and health sectors.
While each project you work on will be different in scope and scale, you will be:Preparing structural designs for multi-disciplinary projects, including detailed analysis, design of structural systems, and development of construction documentation in alignment with project requirements and design standards.Leading structural engineering projects and teams by managing workflows, providing technical guidance, fostering collaboration, guiding junior engineers and ensuring high-quality delivery within timelines and budgets.Proactively identifying and pursuing new business opportunities to secure programmes of work, while developing and maintaining strong strategic client relationships that drive sustainable growth for Beca.Undertaking seismic assessments of existing buildings and developing retrofit systems to meet client and policy requirements.Engaging sustainable and safe philosophies into everything you do and contributing to design and safety reviews and construction monitoring processes to ensure compliance with design specifications, codes, and safety standards.Collaborating with clients to optimise structural solutions, address challenges during design or construction phases, and provide guidance on modifications to ensure project objectives are met.Attending design workshops, client meetings, and site inspections to coordinate with multidisciplinary teams, review progress, and resolve design or construction challenges.You will have input into how projects are delivered, being encouraged to lead design solutions.
You will also have the opportunity to develop in your leadership and management skills through internal training programs and mentorship from the best leaders and managers throughout the business.
Depending on the right experience, there is the opportunity to take on the Team Lead responsibilities of the local structural team.The local New Plymouth Infrastructure and Industrial team is made up of 29 diverse and passionate engineers, designers and project delivery teams, with diverse expertise across civil roading, civil stormwater, project management, mechanical, energy, sustainability and structural.

You thrive on learning, sharing knowledge, and bringing innovative ideas to the table.
With a curious mindset and lateral thinking abilities, you enjoy tackling complex challenges.
You are a qualified Structural Engineer with solid problem-solving skills, either chartered or actively working towards chartership.
Your experience spans technical design, structural engineering, and project management, having worked on a variety of complex projects where you've led and developed practical solutions.
You have a background in seismic engineering and assessments, with a clear understanding of the design process and its impact onsite.
Experience in construction monitoring, along with knowledge of building construction and best practices, would be advantageous.How you work is also important to us – we will value your enthusiasm and motivation to continue to learn from your peers and more senior members of the team.
You will also enjoy the challenge of working across multiple projects with different timelines and deliverables, as well as having responsibility for delivery of your part of a project.
You will also be valued if you can impart your knowledge and learnings onto more junior members of the team.
