We do this by having an education focus, providing world class tooling and providing 24/7/365 support for Xero’s customer-facing applications to achieve an optimal level of operational performance. In this role, you will work closely with Xero’s product teams on agreed shared objectives, build and implement sophisticated monitoring and remediation toolsets and create a culture focussed on continually improving the operation of Xero’s platform and applications.What you'll do
Analyse and improve the efficiency, scalability, and reliability of all Xero applications and systems.
Design and engineer tools that will improve operational health.
Guidance around tools and standards used for SRE best practices and incident management.
Support our product teams by using advanced troubleshooting and root cause analysis techniques in identifying issues.
Mentor other engineers to grow their skills and contributions within your team.
Define and monitor quality system measures, including SLO’s and SLA’s.
Effectively engage with technical and non-technical stakeholders to evangelise SRE practices and address challenges in the context of reliability of product.
What you'll bring with you
Basic understanding of Windows / Linux and TCP/IP fundamentals.
Experience with programming in JavaScript (React. ES6), Python, Golang or C#.
Ability to develop and grow a team through technical mentorship.
Ability to rapidly learn new software, frameworks, open source tools and development languages.
Experience with oncall: coordinating or responding to incidents.
A customer focussed mindset.
Ability to engage effectively with both technical and non-technical staff around the business.
Detail oriented and systematic.
Involvement in an Incident Response process.
Design and engineering experience delivering software designed for high concurrency, scalability, or availability
Worked with large scale distributed systems.
