Senior Project Accountant

This government organisation, with an office based in Christchurch, are looking for a senior accounting professional for a Maternity leave cover. The role has a large focus on delivering sound financial commentary, provide advice and justification for project spend against budget within the capital works and construction sectors.
The main responsiblities for the role include:
Budgeting and forecasting within a busy environment, focusing on the ability to communicate and faciliate findings and decisions with various departments and figures
Having an ability to push back on departmental heads, provide justification and report back
A willingness to help mentor other members within the Project Accounting team, more junior finance members and other stakeholders across relevant departments
Flexibility to travel to the North Island every fortnight and communicate remotely with team members
Responsibility for a large volume of simultaneous projects, valued anywhere between $1-50m
Monthly reporting and advice giving
The successful candidate will have:
A relevant tertiary qualification and/or a fully qualified Chartered Accountant
A minimum of two years experience in a project accounting role
Experience collating various data sources and systems to generate management reports
Experience in an asset/captial intensive organisation, ideally in construction
An ability to think of their feet and communicate ideas quickly
