Permanent part-time position 0.5 FTE Community Rehabilitation
About us
Working in a dynamic and evolving community interdisciplinary team within the services covering Older People's Health Rehabilitation Services based at Dunedin Hospital. You'll work alongside other senior Occupational Therapists, and wider team members in planning and providing rehabilitation to our patients.
About the opportunity
You'll have the opportunity to develop your knowledge and expertise in rehabilitation with medical, orthopaedic and neurological conditions including traumatic brain injury and stroke. You will also have the opportunity to support, teach and upskill students and rotational staff.
We take pride in supporting our staff to grow and we enable ongoing professional development including regular team in-services, senior staff mentoring and peer review, a comprehensive on-call competency training framework, and access to course and conference funding. We work closely with the University of Otago's School of Physiotherapy and support student education throughout clinical placements. Our team is also developing and implementing simulation training resources and programmes to enhance educational opportunities for our staff and students.
About you
As a senior, ideally you will bring to us a minimum of five years occupational therapy experience that includes working in a rehabilitation setting with patients with stroke, other neurological conditions. Experience with the frail elderly and orthopaedic conditions is also an advantage. You would be able to demonstrate a strong understanding of optimising patient outcomes and facilitating effective discharge planning, using a patient centred and evidence based approach to goal setting and intervention.
In addition to the experience you bring us, you will have enthusiasm and a willingness to commit to our team and patients. You will be expected to be active in service quality initiatives, therefore be proactive, innovative and have a quality driven leadership approach.
For this permanent role covering the service, you will need to be a New Zealand registered occupational therapist with a current annual practising certificate.
