With over 3,500 University Staff and 20,000 students, it can be a bit like helping to run a small town.We deploy, support and maintain a wide and exciting array of equipment and facilities including state-of-the-art research laboratories, large student accommodation facilities, commercial premises, and world-class teaching facilities.The roleAs part of a strategic transformation, the role of Senior Manager Property Operations within Property Services has been created.Heading up the Property Operations Sub-Division, you will be responsible for operationalising our Strategic Asset Management Plan while also continuing to work as a pro-active client orientated service provider for the wider University.Units within this Sub-division include:Building Controls & Energy.Contracts Management.Custodial Services.Facilities Management.Project Management.Building Information & Compliance Management.
Acting as a key member of the Senior Leadership Team, you will be responsible for the tactical delivery of a wide range of operational services provided by the Division.Key responsibilities include:leading a pro-active and client focused Operations Group from the front by providing excellent administration, planning, communication and management of teams and people;ensuring the on-going development, management and monitoring of annual, medium and long-term maintenance plans and technical standards for all existing buildings and infrastructure (including energy networks and underground assets);providing management and advice on the legislative compliance required for maintenance, repairs and upkeep as well as minor and major maintenance and adaptions of existing buildings;acting as an escalation point and second in charge (2iC) for the Director within the Division, stepping in as acting Director as and when required;bridging the Property Services Strategy with the Trade Services Business through the establishment of a highly functional professional services delivery; andproviding technical input into the University’s Capital Projects.
This senior position holds multiple reporting lines and multiple levels of indirect reports. This role acts as 2iC to the Director of Property Services and is a key deliverer of strategy, customer engagement, commercial performance and overall operational performance.Your skills and experienceBuilding, Facilities Management or Building Services Qualification or suitable experience in Construction or Facilities Management.The ability to provide thought leadership to the Senior Management Team by pushing boundaries and asking “why”.Excellent leadership and people management skills and qualities.Strong emotional intelligence, empathy and ability to work with people from varying backgrounds, skill sets and competencies.The ability to work effectively and professionally during times of change.Strong organisational and planning skills.
