Our mission to generate novel fit-for-purpose policy solutions for Southeast Asia's most pressing environmental and sustainability challenges. Our vision is to accelerate knowledge critical for advancing sustainability goals championed by governments, the private sector and non-governmental organizations. We do so by conducting research, analysis, dialogues and training aimed at enhancing policy design capacity building - a critical but often overlooked component for those seeking to advance sustainability transitions. Drawing on our historical success in generating novel policy design options for water policy and governance, we expanding to focus attention on critical substantive issues denoted by climate and energy, biodiversity and land use, and sustainable livelihoods. As part of these efforts, we are seeking to hire an Outreach and Communication Senior Manager as part of the growing team at the Institute for Environment and Sustainability (IES) The position will be a 2-year contract, renewable subject to good performance. Job Description The successful applicant will support IES's leadership in building Southeast Asia's leading environmental and sustainability policy think tank, housed within the Lee Kuan Yew School of Public Policy. The role holder will identify, propose, and develop innovative and collaborative philanthropic and partnership opportunities with corporate donors, foundations, governments, and other partners. He/she will accelerate capacity building efforts to develop new partnership models, retain and grow relationships with existing partners, actively track and analyse country and regional pipelines and portfolios, and ensure the use of well-coordinated and competitive proposal management processes. As part of outreach and engagement efforts, he/she will lead external communication including quarterly IES newsletter, strategic LinkedIn posts, prints and news media engagement, and IES website. In addition, the role will involve leading the management of internal organisational efforts within LKYSPP & NUS generally as well as external stakeholder engagement with Singaporean, ASEAN, and global government officials, non-governmental, business, and philanthropic organizations. The role also includes writing proposals for funding and conference participation in collaboration with the broader IES stakeholders. The role holder will report to the Director of IES. The position will require strong leadership skills with demonstrative experience in the formation and management of a productive team. The role includes administrative and programmatic management, as well as stakeholder engagement and an exceptional degree of organisation. Key Responsibilities: • Proactively identify, cultivate, and secure opportunities within new and existing donors, NGOs, and multi-stakeholder networks, aligning strategically with the needs and priorities of each stakeholder, to foster collaborative and mutually beneficial engagements that will lead to long-term resources for IES, including securing members for the IES Leadership Council and Academic Advisory Board. • Drive, plan, and put together non-competitive grant proposals and concept notes for diverse opportunities at a regional and global sustainability space to secure long-term funding at scale, in consultation with IES's Leadership and Research Team. • Prepare all necessary groundwork for multi-country or multi-regional proposal development and management, assembles proposal teams for multi-country opportunities, provides effective proposal management at the regional level, and undertakes quality assurance of proposals to ensure high-quality competitive proposals in order to successfully secure funding at scale. • Lead strategic collaboration and coordination of Communications and Outreach at IES, driving successful LinkedIn postings and media engagements including newsletter, website, prints, social media and news stations, contributing to the IES's increase in visibility both in the region as well as globally. Qualifications • Degree holder with at least 10 years of experience, preferably in the social or policy sciences, communications, and/or business. • Proven track record engagements with senior management regionally and globally, with an ability to effectively lead grant management and outreach, with demonstrable outcomes. • Experience in writing senior management papers and grant proposals. • Meticulous, strong coordination and organization skills with an eye for detail. • A strong team player with an ability to be agile and work under pressure in a fast-paced, dynamic environment. • Knowledge and a keen interest in environmental and sustainability changes relevant to Singapore and ASEAN • Familiarity with Singapore, Southeast Asia, and international ecosystem of funding (including grant and philanthropic funding) opportunities. • Strong interpersonal and persuasive communication ability, with a proven track-record of substantial commitments made in consulting with philanthropists and managing these relationships. • Demonstration of creativity, sense of initiative, and enthusiasm in taking on new projects, seeing them to completion and creating value for IES and the LKYSPP.
