The School of Psychology and Clinical Psychology Programme recognises the importance of Maori psychology and training Clinical Psychologists who can appropriately meet the needs of Maori clients and communities in Aotearoa/New Zealand. The Clinical Programme is committed to increasing Maori student numbers to 50% of the cohort in order to meet workforce shortages. Accordingly, we are seeking to appoint a Maori Psychology Senior Lecturer to facilitate the ongoing development and implementation of indigenous psychological knowledge, te reo, tikanga, and Matauranga Maori within the Clinical Psychology curriculum. The Senior lecturer will work in partnership with other academic staff to support successful Maori student research and progress through the Clinical Programme.
Our ideal candidate
PhD in Psychology or equivalent, Registered Clinical Psychologist
Teaching experience (preferably at both undergraduate and postgraduate levels) with strong, positive teaching evaluations
An excellent academic record, as evidenced by a publication record, appropriate to the appointment level sought.
Conversant in matauranga Maori; knowledge of ahunga tikanga.
Understanding of Hui and Maori models of mental health and their implementation within the clinic kaupapa and clinical practice with Maori tangata whaiora.
Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
