Help lift the bar for procurement, with a business advisory focus
Newmarket location with flexible working supported at Vector
Who we are
The energy industry is experiencing the biggest and most exciting transformation in 100 years. Auckland is growing at a rapid rate; new energy technologies are emerging, and everyday Kiwis are demanding more choice and control over their energy needs. Vector is leading the charge towards an exciting new energy future - and we are looking for highly talented and motivated people to join us on that journey.
About the Role
This is a partnership role, working with several of our business units, including our core infrastructure businesses who are busy building and maintaining our electricity, gas and fibre networks in the Auckland area. Collaboratively manage the end to end lifecycle for each strategic supplier within this business unit, from supplier selection, performance management, through ongoing vendor governance and risk management. As our industry is transforming, so is the current way of operating our supply chain strategy and strategic partnerships are at the core of this change. Work with your stakeholders and peers to identify opportunities to add financial value to Vector, explore new supplier relationships, ensuring quality and supply are not compromised.
Vector is also on a mission to decarbonise our business and procurement will play a huge part in enabling that. Use your collaboration skills to engage with and develop our business leaders and suppliers to truly understand what sustainability and decarbonisation means through the supply chain. Turn strategy into reality and see it come to life as you implement and drive change through the organisation. You will provide thought leadership and innovative thinking to inform procurement practices that promote an environmentally sustainable future, while ensuring future generations will be able to meet their energy needs. Be part of something truly meaningful for Auckland and ultimately New Zealand and beyond.
Who are we looking for
Bring with you your extensive previous experience in procurement and ideally a CIPS qualification. Apply your knowledge of managing the commercial and contractual aspects of supply relationships either from sourcing or sales side. You’ll have demonstrated experience of running complex RFX/tender processes and contract negotiations for significant supply relationships ($5m + p.a range).
You’re an adept negotiator with the ability to draft contracts and service levels, and have a sound understanding of risk management processes. You’re commercial, are renowned for building strong and effective relationships and know how to communicate with and influence people from a diverse range of backgrounds.
What we can offer you
We take pride in our vision and values, working together to create a new energy future. You'll be joining a dynamic company that provides the ideal career environment for people with high calibre attitudes, experience and skills. You’ll be involved with stimulating work and surrounded by people who are known for their innovation, as we lead the transformation of the energy sector to enable decarbonisation and address the challenges of climate change.
Vector engages a workforce made up of people and teams with diverse skills, values, backgrounds and experiences. We respect and value people who are different from each other, including gender, ethnicity, disability, age, sexual orientation, race and religion. We were the first corporate Living Wage Accredited employer, and the first Accessibility Tick employer.
