Senior Field Intelligence Officer

Gisborne or Napier based permanent role Salary range: $101,911 - $121,196 As a Senior Field Intelligence Officer, you will play a significant role as a key liaison person in the field (regions) and is responsible for ensuring collection and dissemination of information and intelligence to support and provide unique insights into decisions across MBIE's regulatory and New Zealand's national security systems.
You will identify, gather and develop potential sources of information using a variety of methods, working within legal and operational parameters to meet tactical, operational, and strategic intelligence requirements, ensuring all relevant information is explored to develop credible intelligence for an identified and tasked regulatory and/or intelligence outcome.
The purpose of Field Intelligence is to inform and enhance decisions by MBIE and provide operational support to TWSD.
Our mahi is proportionate, lawful, necessary, and linked to an approved Intelligence Requirement.
Intelligence collected by us is useful, useable and used i.e.
we support the decision-maker by: Directed and focussed collection to fill an MBIE information/intelligence/knowledge gap.
Obtain relevant (real time) details to inform further MBIE activity.
Identify risks to the responding MBIE unit.
Strengthen the all-source intelligence picture.
Corroborate information held or received.
Access subjective data such as intentions and personal perspectives.
This is 'Ground Truth,' which is intended to provide a basis for further investigation, analysis, and/or informing situational awareness.
Skills and Experience Required Pre-requisites: New Zealand Citizenship or hold a New Zealand Permanent Residency class visa.
The ability to obtain and maintain a national security clearance at Top Secret level (check your eligibility here) You must also have a current full New Zealand drivers' license as there is a requirement to travel domestically as part of the role.
Satisfactorily complete pre-employment checks which will include, but is not limited to, criminal and credit checks.
We would like to hear from you if you have the following: Strong interpersonal skills and the ability to develop trust, influence and maintain effective relationships to work closely with the wider Intelligence team and execute collection priorities.
Proven ability to build and manage key strategic relationships, including identifying and fostering important partnerships and collections opportunities.
Ability to quickly assimilate new information or areas of work and undertakes complex intelligence enquiries in line with relevant policies and legislation.
Ability to work across a broad spectrum of agencies to ensure all relevant sources of information are explored, including identifying opportunities for further information gathering.
Proven experience in a relevant intelligence field as in Field Intelligence Officer.
Good working knowledge of the business, economic and social environment that MBIE operates in.
Demonstrated understanding of the protocols and processes required when working with protective security requirements, including highly classified material.
Proven knowledge and experience in the collection and evaluating of information and contributes to the maintenance of a national open sources and agency contacts database.
Tertiary qualification, preferably in a relevant field, or comparable relevant experience in immigration, intelligence, or law enforcement.
