While we work in different groups and on different things, we all strive every day to make the biggest difference we can for every child, young person and adult student in our education system.
About our group and team
The Small Business Systems team builds and supports applications to help the Ministry\'s front line and corporate staff to ensure they can get their job done easily and efficiently. Based in Wellington, you will be a permanent part of the Small Business Systems team. You will collaborate with people across IT and the wider business and help build new applications that will ensure our education system is equipped to achieve the Ministry\'s vision. Our goal is to create modern .NET solutions in a highly automated fashion. You will write and support software that plays a key role in providing access to education for learners across New Zealand. As a Senior Developer, you will help us improve code quality, automate deployment, and work as a technical expert on a cross functional team.
About you
You will be an experienced Full Stack Developer with a true passion for software development. You will have a strong background with Microsoft technologies used throughout the software development lifecycle: source control using Git; coding using Visual Studio; building with Azure DevOps; and monitoring with Application Insights.
You\'ll bring:

Expertise with languages and frameworks including C#, JavaScript, Angular, Knockout, ASP.NET, and Entity Framework
Familiarity with Agile software development methodology and tooling, including continuous integration and continuous delivery
Exceptional troubleshooting and analytical abilities
A comprehensive knowledge of SQL Server and experience developing stored procedures and database design
An awareness of a range of technologies and their practical applications in supporting business requirements e.g. SSIS, SSRS and Azure

You\'ll be responsible for:
Working with developers, architects, product owners, and system administrators to build and deliver working software and business value
Communicating to both general business people and technical specialists
Researching, planning, and implementing best practices and constant improvements of our development process
Delivering documentation, training, and support for applications you build
Defining, measuring, and reporting progress, and helping the success of the application
Ensuring the development team is working on the best infrastructure and following the most efficient practices

Are you ready to make a difference?
We are an organisation that values our staff; we offer flexible work hours and provide opportunity for personal development and learning.
