You will undertake all aspects of Composite lamination and assembly required during production while utilising traditional and modern composite fabrication techniques.As a Composite Technician your work will include but is not limited to, assembling components used inside pressurised cryogenic propellant tanks, structural components, and deployment systems, always adhering to Rocket Lab's high standards of quality, while meeting the schedule demand set out by the production leadership team.
As a technician, you will be hands-on, working with tools, equipment and/or facilities to build, launch or test Rocket Lab launch vehicles or components.
Your responsibilities contribute to the overall production and launch schedule.YOU'LL BRING THESE QUALIFICATIONS:Must be able to demonstrate 5 years relevant industry experiencePrecision Lamination skills of prepreg systemsPrecision Lamination skills of Tooling Prepreg systemsKnowledge of Bagging for oven and Autoclave curesBasic Hand tool skillsInterpret and apply Laminate and assembly drawings to ensure product qualityProduce a laminate by vacuum bagging for compositesProduce a cord laminate itemProduce an open mould from a plug patternRepair damaged or faulty composite itemsSelect, use, and care for hand tools used in the marine or composite industrySelect, use, and care for portable power tools used in the marine or composite industryPerform measurements and calculations used in a marine or composite workplaceInterpret and apply assembly drawings to ensure product qualityApply health and safety procedures in a marine or composite workplaceOperate simple mechanical plant used in the marine or composite industryTHESE QUALIFICATIONS WOULD BE NICE TO HAVE:Trade qualified in relevant industryExcellent communication skills, both verbal and writtenThe ability to work effectively in a team environment as well as autonomouslyAble to read, understand and follow manufacturing instructions and drawingsA high work ethic, always seeking more responsibility.
