New Zealand School Trustees Association (NZSTA) is a not for profit and membership-based national organisation representing the interests of its member boards.
NZSTA is the most influential leader of effective school governance in Aotearoa, embodying the intent of Te Tiriti o Waitangi. Its vision is to lead and strengthen school governance in New Zealand to ensure that all schools are effectively governed so that every student realises their highest possible educational potential.
Reporting to the General Manager of Business Performance and Engagement, you will be responsible for leading the overall communications function; providing high level communications and marketing advice to NZSTA’s President, Chief Executive and Senior Managers and across the business as well as leading and undertaking key marketing, communication and business initiatives. Key responsibilities include:
Develop and implement NZSTA’s communications strategy, ensuring all communications are aligned with NZSTA’s strategic direction, brand and style guidelines
Provide communications support and advice to the President, Chief Executive and Senior Managers and across NZSTA’s business teams
Work closely with the President’s Office to develop and implement tactical plans for projects and campaigns in relation to memberships related sector initiatives, policies and annual conference
Responsible for content development, execution and evaluation across all aspects of communications
Establish and maintain effective relationships with key internal and external stakeholders
Work with the wider communications team to optimise the use of digital channels
Provide relevant input and feedback into resource development and contribute to the functioning of the communications team and the wider organisation

This is a permanent full-time position ideally based in Wellington. Other NZ regional locations will be considered for the right candidate (Auckland, Hamilton or Christchurch). Hours are 40 hours per week and flexible working arrangements are available.
Person Profile:
Demonstrated working experience in communications and/or marketing or similar role
A relevant tertiary qualification in communications, marketing, PR or equivalent
Proven experience leading successful communication and marketing campaigns
Excellent written and verbal communication skills including editing and proof-reading
Ability to establish effective working relationships across the business
Strong attention to detail
Committed to providing a high level of customer service
Proven ability to participate as a positive, effective team member
Sound computer literacy and proficiency in MS Office Suite, design applications and social media platforms (Twitter, Facebook, LinkedIn, Adobe Suite, InDesign, Silverstripe)
